French FAIR
FrenchSoc have only gone and decided to host our very own Fair sponsored by the Bank of Ireland Bursary Awards in collaboration with the French Department! This will be a busy week and a half, with a smattering of French-themed events happening both on college grounds and externally. Our main aim is to provide the opportunity to students to experience a slice of France in Galway, to taste the culture, the language, and, sans doute, la cuisine!
Sound good? Voici nos projets!:
Monday March 13th
Cinéclub
Come along to our Cinéclub and watch a stunning homage to Hollywood, with critically acclaimed film "The Artist" being screened 6pm in the McMunn Theatre: popcorn and great company guaranteed!
Tuesday, 14th
Le Petit Déjeuner
Tuesday is food day! We’re kicking off with Le Petit Déjeuner, a free breakfast morning in Áras na Mac Léinn.
Cheese & Wine Evening
Then, in the evening, indulge in five varieties of cheeses and three varieties of wine, in the company of a professional sommelier, at our Wine and Cheese event in Rouge from 6pm. Tickets: €5, SocsBox, selling fast!
Wednesday, 15th
Championship Debate
Come along to our first annual French Soc Championship debate in An Téatar, Áras na Gaeilge, from 6PM. If any student or staff member would like to get involved, we would encourage them to get in touch with us at
frenchsoc@socs.nuigalway.ie, or to contact our Facebook page: FrenchSoc NUI Galway.
Table Quiz
Also on Wednesday, if you’re in to a good quiz, come along to our very own Table Quiz from 8pm in The Skeff. Tickets are €2, with teams of 4 as a max. There will be 6 rounds of 10, all French-themed, with questions being read bilingually. It's all in aid of charity, with the winners taking home a €50 voucher for Rouge! (as well as lots of spot prizes and treats)
Thursday, 16th
AGM
This week is culminating with the chance to become a committee member of FrenchSoc at our AGM at 6pm in the Stage, Áras na Mac Léinn. All positions are open for election, and don’t be discouraged - you don't need any experience or French language skills to run! If you’re enthusiastic about anything French at all, please give it some consideration – we’ve enjoyed our year immensely, and can’t recommend it enough!
After Party
Our AGM is followed by an afterparty in Sult, with the upstairs area reserved from 8PM,
and free in to 44 after.
